Miriame DeVelou.
As you enter the Inn your approached by the owner Old Yevon IronBeard. He welcomes you with his long but warm greeting and shows you to a table in the center of the room.
After sitting down Lizann the bar maid comes bringing you, cool IronBeard ale to drink and a platter with roast boar and wolf steaks some cooked potato's and cheese with a warm loaf of bread fresh from the ovens.
Glancing around the tavern you see the normal travelers merchants and adventurers seated talking or eating. some sleeping in they're chairs, having taken to much ale.
But in a corner by the fire you see a figure clad in dark armor. After starring for a moment your eyes adjust to the darkened corner. The armored figure is a woman middle aged but very fit, you notice a scar that runs down her right cheek. from just below the eye ending at her delicate chin. You think to your self, (this one was a beauty. Still is striking).
Just then IronBeard pounds a pitcher of ale down on your table gaining your attention. He roars there have a pitcher of my finest ale on the house. Then leans forward whispering. (Yea be gazing on Lady Miriame DeVelou, Paladin and crusader of the great war of 10 years past.)
Interested you ask IronBeard what he knows of the woman. Glancing at her for a moment. IronBeard then pulls a chair over to your table and says. Yer wanting her story are yea mates?
You answers him in the affirmative. So in a hushed tone he begins the tale.
In the beginning of the great war she was married to Lord DeVelou of Stormwind. Brother to the king, he was a prince never to see the thrown. But he was loved by many and dedicated himself to the church of Stormwind, in service to the gods and king, as a Paladin.
The man was a holy crusader and rivaled to all evils that crossed his path. Eye mates he was a pure paladin unlike some of the riffraff you see today.
He perused justes for all. When the war began he rallied warriors and junior paladin alike to follow him to the plagued lands and fight the advancing scourge under the command of Lord Ulric the crusader.
But alas. after several months time he lost his life to a demon lord summoned from the depth of hell its self by the litch king. It was told that the battle lasted many an hour Lord DeVelou taking inhuman amounts of punishment but dealing the greater demon heavy damage all threw. Until from a burning barn came the scream of pain of a infant girl. The barn ablaze lord DeVelou knew the child would die and he turned to run into the inferno. As he entered the barn the demon lord called forth the power of hells fire and the barn collapsed upon Lord DeVelou and the infant child killing them both. But not entirely. For that same night Lord DeVelou's spirit appeared in Stormwind to his loyal loving tender wife. Crying forgiveness for failing to return home to her.
(with that Ironbeard sits back in his chair taking a long breath and a deep drink of his ale.)

But as Ironbeard begins to talk once more, Lizann the bar maid comes over. (Yevon your needed in the kitchen!) He hurriedly stands, I'll be back soon lads to tell you more.

After several minutes IronBeard returns to your table with a new pitcher of ale poring everyone a drink he seats himself.

After that Lord Bearamer of the church began taking her training in earnest. He took her under his wing so to speak teaching her the ways of the paladin and the craft of the crusader. She soon became the best swordsman in Stormwind by my reckoning. But still the church refused her requests to be sent to the plagued lands.
After several months she wrote a impassioned letter to Lord Ulric who reading her tale and her impassioned words agreed to order the church to release her to his service.
She reported to him in the plagued lands and soon became a captain in the order of the light.
Pausing, IronBeard wets his mouth and thirst with a draft of his deep dark rich ale.
Then taking a breath he continues. Oh she impressed old Ulric alright she impressed him even more when she saved the life of a Orc commander at the battle of Tauren mills. Old Ulric was so impressed he assigned her to be a liaison to the Orc command. Yee boys do know that back then we and the green skins were allies agenced he scourge don't you?
Well yes we were! and that where she got that nasty red scar you noticed graceing her face.
Just then Lizann comes over and fills the pitcher with fresh ale. Saying Ironbeard kitchen again. IronBeard excuses himself promising to return shortly.

Anyway now the orcs seeing her as a weak human woman offered her little or no respect at all. Even though she lived amung them and faught by they're sides for a year. Until one day when a Shaman actually challanged her to a duel. He was a great green hulking beast who everyone in the camp feared and respected, because he was known to bring pain to those that stood agenced him. His name was Cruelgore Hamerstone.
Old Crulegore was infuriated that Miriame was with his people he belived that she being a human had no place amung the Orcs specially in a war party.
He belived that she was makeing the orcs weak, and that she was bad luck for the frost wolf clan. Alies or no Alies Crulegore was Miriame biggest problem.
So it's dinner time, yee see's and she cooking some mutton.
That be sheep meat for you boys who don't understands civilized talkin and all!
The orcs eats they're mutton raw, and alot of them are lookin at Miriame like she's a crazy woman for ruining perfectly good sheep meat with fire and spice.
It's then that Crulegore made his move.
He just walked right up to Miriame and knocked her cookin pan clear across the camp. Bellowing and rageing. Then challanges her to a duel.
Well this wrilled the orc camp up a pieace for sure! They was beatin war drums and rawring like a bunch of crazed animals.
But Miriame calmly excepted the challange. Thrall seeing the danger in this advised Miriame to conceed to the shaman and leave the camp, but she was a stubbron lass and the duel
was set for sunrise.
All threw the night she prayed to the goddess of the light, Elune for strength to fight the terrible Crulegore.
In the morning clad in her plate mail armor she stepped from her tent ready. Armor and weapon gleaming in the early morning sun.
Cruelgore awaited her. Both of them were encircled in a ring of Orc, as is orcish custom. There’s are only 2 ways to leave a orcish dueling circle. Victorias or on a stretcher. sometime even dead.
Old Thrall himself did the honor of setting the terms of the duel and dropped the black flag to the ground signaling the duels start.
Within a eyes blink Cruelgore had two totems on the ground one to bind Miriame to the ground and slow her down, and one which was a shooting fire balls at her.
But Miriame knew those tricks and struck both of them with a single blow of her sword. Rendering them useless, Crulegore roar in anger and shot a bolt of blue lightning at her stunning her for just a moment. Then he ran at her with a great 2 handed axe.
Well Miriame wasn't no noobie at fighting and she blocked his axe with her shield. Then cleansed herself of the shamans vile lightning as she cast seal of justes. Crulegore wasn't done yet though he circled round and let his axe swing for her head. But she caught the swing with her sword.
Now there something different about Miriame's sword it a special sword. It's name Del Rendals charge. It's one of a set of two sacred swords. The Other sword of that set is dark magic but her sword is fire magic!
So when the shamans axe hit her sword. Del Rendals charge spat fire at the shaman. Burning his face and arms.
Miriame picked just that time to release the seal of justes, dealing old Crulegore a terrible blow blinding one of his eyes and forcing him to his knees.
That crazy old Shaman sprang right back up yelling his rage and dropping a couple more totems.
well the battle raged for what seemed like hours. Slowly Miriame wore that shaman to a frazzle.
Then just when it looked like she had him squar and ready for a finishing blow. His axe slashed out!
Well it grazed her face and the scar is there to prove it. It’s a scar that has marred her beauty for years now. But back to the story.
Bleeding now half blind Miriame and Crulegore both struggled to stay upright. Grunting like a wild boar Crulegore swung that big axe of his over and over, missing each time as Miriame dodged and weaved to avoid its deadly ark.
She stabbed and parried his fierce blows. Both combatants out of mana and tired.
Finally Miriame saw her chance. Cruelgore’s armor straps on his chest had been cut and looked like it would give with a good pull. So the next swing of his axe. She stepped into him blocking his axe with her sword she dropped her shield and grabbed his chest armor. then gave it a yank with all her might! the strap holding the armor on tore loose and she flung his chest armor aside.
Cruelgore screamed in anger and charged towards Miriame, knocking her to the ground. But she quick as a cat sprang back up!
She seemed to slam into Crulegore at the same time as she jumped up and there was a moment of true silence, cause old Crulegore stood now hunched over with Miriame looking like she was holding him up. Then the powerful orc sank to his knees.
As Miriame stepped back from the great orc there was blood all over her arm and chest plate. Her dagger was berried in his belly. Old Crulegore moaned deeply as he fell sideways from his knees and lay there jerking like a fresh killed chicken. A mummer of rage came from the surrounding Orc. But Thrall stepped into the circle.
He bellowed. at the horde of Orc.
(Our honor says the victor of a duel in the circle is free of judgement!)
The Women’s strength cannot be questioned. I declare the duel at an end. The orc then realized that Miriame was as fierce a warrior as they could want with them. A rawer of approval rang out from the orcish horde. Thrall shouted above the Orc. From this point forward Miriame shall be treated as one of our own and I name her Rages Bane!
Miriame stood there calmly. Then knelt beside Cruelgore. She took her dagger from his belly and with a glowing hand she healed his wound.
Well lads she earned the respect of all orc kind that day.
From then to the end of the war she was liaison officer to the Orc for Ulric’s army. Together our people and the Orc drove the scourge deep into the hinterlands and into the fridged north where it remains now frozen for eternity. Stories of Miriame's exploits with the Orc were told in every kingdom. She was regaled and honored as a hero exalted by all in the civilized world, but the war ended.
After the war was over Miriame returned to Stormwind. But her deeds soon were slandered by men of the written word and, as the tentative alliance between the horde and the our alliance broke down. More and more writers and gossipers, slandered her. Saying she was a horde sympathizer. Well maybe its not slander because she believed in a common alliance between horde and us. But she never took sides in the aftermath or during the breakdown of the treaty.
Finally as an insult during a day of remembrance for the fallen heros. She was pelted with eggs and vegetables by malicisios children. She left Stormwind that day and only returns there under the guise of church business and under the cover of darkness. Some people say she's the churches last crusader others call her a trader. But none who speak ill of her will do so to her face. For in it they see her savage force and her pure zeel for her church and her honor.
With that the room falls silent. You look over your shoulder and standing behind you is the paladin. She smiles. greets you and then thanks Ironbeard for his hospitality. Then leaves the Inn, going into the night into the darkness.
